I decided to buck the trend of Carbotechs (too squeaky) and try out some EBC Yellowstuff pads. They're supposed to be great dual-duty pads for the street and track, so we'll see how they work at HPDE in July.

I'll post up again after I install them (hopefully this weekend if they arrive soon enough) and after HPDE.

Anybody else have any experience with these pads?

EBC Yellowstuff
EBC’s entry level race material Yellowstuff has temperature resistance effective up to over 800 degrees centigrade. The material has been used by many TRD development cars and racers alike, including Martin Bell in his championship winning BMW. Yellow is the choice for that extra percentage of life over and above our Greenstuff and Redstuff range. Yellowstuff is intended for short circuit races of 20 to 30 lap nature, see our Bluestuff for longer races. Yellowstuff is our recommended pad for trackday use.

Ultra high friction pads for race use but perfectly safe for street use.

Although a full race material and capable of high temperature use with very good wear life, this new formulation sets a new trend in race type brake pad compounds that can be used on the highway. The “bite” from cold is superb which is uncommon with race materials (normally requiring warm-up) and makes this a pad which can be safely used on both street and track. This new formulation has been used by numerous championship race and rally drivers and is truly a milestone in brake pad material development. Nominal friction coefficient 0.5 with zero rotor damage and the dust is the same or perhaps slightly more than many original pads, this is NOT a low dust pad.

i thought you used them last august? I have been usingthem since hpde #3. I like them, but I dont have anything else to compare them too. I gave JR my set that I used at the last hpde because I had a new set on the way. hopefully he can give a good comparison write-up also.

I have had my new set installed for a couple weeks now, they are a little sqeeky right now.

Nah, last HPDE I was using Hawk HPS pads and they SUCK BALLS on the track. Street use they're OK, but honestly I would not say they're any better than stock.

I used the hps's on hpde #1 with stock fluid. ATE SuperBlue and yellowstuff are far from the hps's. I was consistantly braking at the 450-475' mark all day on the front straight.

what fluid are you going to use?

Right now I have Valvoline synthetic that's supposed to be good to 500+ degrees. Probably will change it before HPDE though since it's a year old.

With the XP8's I was able to carry my braking past the turn in point :nawz:

ive had mine for over a year and they work great. they do make noise at slow speeds though. but they make up for it by looking badass.

If all you have used on the track were the hawks, you will love the yellows. maybe next go around I will spring for some carbo's to see how much of a difference they are. I like to swap my pads on a couple weeks early just to make sure they get down a good layer on the rotors before the track day.
