My car is boosting 17 lbs with stock controller and no spring mod what the hell. Why

i was going to say maybe because its so damn cold out and your computer hasn't learned it yet, but you're from so cal so maybe not.

Factory freak?

Ya it was doing it when it was cold and warm. I was thinking waybe the spring mod screwed up the wastegate. It hit 19 lbs today for a second.

It's probably just the boost gauge. I once saw my boost gauge hit over 20 once when I was bone stock and I knew there wasn't a difference in power.

What does your gauge do at idle? When you have the car off?

Does it feel faster? There have been problems with boost gauges going crazy. I doubt your pushing that many pounds of boost stock.

Let's trade gauges Shaun. Mine is reading low.

all the above and also if you hit the gas too low in RPM range, it spikes high but it comes back to normal 13-14-15

I've never tried that, I don't normally WOT unless i'm over 2k from a roll anyway.

I've also heard people say though that you shouldn't go WOT unless you're over 3k because of something with the way the car is designed. Is it all BS?

mine did the same thing, i was boosting 19 psi for absolutly no reason, then it just stopped one day. i still dont know why it did it.

WOT at low RPMs just puts stress on the engine and components. its like WOT in 5th gear. its like pushing the car to its limits while making it hold itself back. or another example, WOT going up a steep hill or towing something heavy

I found out today that when the motor is cold it will only boost 12-14 lbs, but as soon as the motor is warmed up it goes to 17-19 lbs. And the car feels strong. I have no clue.

The gauge reads 0 with the car off.

The car won't make full boost until it's warmed up

I think he meant what part of the 0 is it sitting on. There is a pretty wide window right there where the 0 is.

Could be the vaccum lines. One of my lines blew one day and I was boosting 18-19, then it got worse and would go to ~27 psi.

strategically placed boost leaks=boost controller=possibilities of WAY too much boost :thumb:

wow..that takes me back to the last norcal meet when one member told me i dont need a boost contoller as he heated up a paper clip and and stabbed it thru his wga vaccum line...and i then shook my head and walked away:ftard:

that will work 100%

agp provides a bleed that goes from the boost source to the WGA... you think they do it for fun?

Right in the middle of the 0.

Yeah and the damn thing whistles above 15 psi too.
