Ok, as some know already, i got the 03 black srt-4. I have the stock wheels and i am keeping them cause i like them. but i do want them to be smoked, or black or something dark. any ideas on how to do it myself and it look good and not look like some retard did it? as in what type of paint, how many coats, shit like that. or maybe someone has some smoked ones already and wants to trade for the unpainted ones? HELP!!

I just did mine, black srt now with black rims. I first cleaned the rims and then thoroughly sanded them with 250 grit sand paper and then washed them again. I painted the entire wheel so I only tapped off the tires, but you will obviously need to tape what you dont want painted. Then I used 2 cans of black engine paint from checker which got me 5 coats per wheel. Then I wet sanded them after a day of drying with 2000 grit sand paper from checker. Then I used 2 cans of rustomeum(i think) clear coat which again got me about 5 coats per wheel. Basic spary paint techniques apply here too, dont over do on the coats otherwise it will run and is a bitch to try and wet sand away. Depending on the paint there are certain temperature requirements so you may have to paint them in the house depending on your garage situation. Thats about it, hopefully I will get some pics tommorrow after I wash my car.

hmmm, sounds easy enough, just a little time consuming. post pics as soon as you can. does it look good in your opinion?

I like it, but it is deffinately more apparent that the car needs to be lowered. Yes, it was very time consuming but I thought it was worth the time. I should have pics up today after I was it if I dont freeze my ass off.

Yea, but I will see how long I guess. One thing you could do would be to get gloss black paint and not bother with the clear, then when you get chips or any scratches you could just quickly spray them again and your good to go.
