Ok I know this is a noob question, but bare with me here, I've never really had to deal with getting new tires before.
It looks as tho I'm going to need to tires soon, my stockers have 25k on them and are getting pretty loud. Whats a good tire to buy? I like the stock ones but I don't think they're the best choice for me because the softer rubber wears out faster and I may be driving more to and from work, so I want something that will last me a lil bit longer.
Thanks! :thumb:

depending on what size/performance you want out of them you can get them for under $100 a tire

Another silly question. I know you can tell you need new tires by using a penny that (i think) you put in the tread, head down. Whats the point where you need new tires?

Take a look at khumos they are relatively cheap and provide great grip.

They do have good tire reviews on tirerack. I bought some lo-pro khumo tires a while from them at a great price.

I hear that! They have some reasonably styled 17x7.5 wheels. Matched up with some sumimoto 235/45-17's and I can have a mounted, balanced set for 700 shipped.
what a bargain!
EDIT - oops the 700 price was for wheels only. to add tires it came to just under $1000
This is a good deal for the rubber u do get...:cool2:

When it rains and your car slides through an intersection upon brake application. Seriously, go with the Nittos. They are decent street tires for normal people, I'd personally go with MT ET Street Radials:thumb:

i got nitto neo gens all four mounted balanced, liftime warranty, balance and rotations for like $480 out the door....awesome tires. i can cut consistent 2.0 60' times on them, so that alone should be testament enough of their traction ability. they also are very quiet...WAY quieter than stockers!

Most tires have wear indicators on them now so you don't need to do penny tests anymore.
I too am looking. I envy everyone who doesn't have to deal with snow. Right now I do alot of highway driving so I'm trying to get a higher tread number so they will at least last 2 seasons.
Luckily the CSC is sponsored by Discount Tires and they match any internet deals. So these are the ones I found for myself so far.
Azenis ST 115 - 360 tread - $96.00
Nitto NT NeoGen ZR - 280 - $112
g-Force T/A KDW - 300 - $123.00
All-Season pick, Contemplating this one for the fact that I won't have to rebuy tires in 6 months. The ones I currently have have lasted 25K or so.
Continental ContiExtremeContact - 400 - $115
I'd love to pick up some Azenis 615s but I'd burn through them by August for sure.

you've prolly already bought them but i'll put in my .02 here........
my favorite street tire for hooking has been nitto dr's, but i'm sure you don't want dr's. the regular nittos are great too. aside from them, the best pure street tires i've ever had have been hankook ventus sport k104's. i got a set of 275/40-17's for $430 if i remember right. so with your size tire i'm sure they'd be quite a bit less :thumb:

Nope haven't bought my tires yet. I'm debating if I should just bite the bullet and get new rims while I'm at it.

Thanks for your help guys!
Someone from Cali is selling thier stock tires and rims for only 350. They only have 2000 miles on them and look in really good condition.
Chances are now I'll just sell my rims/tires.
