LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Oct. 31, 2010) - The high-performance Dodge Charger was recognized today as the most accessory friendly car at the 2010 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, capturing one of three SEMA Vehicle Design Awards and joining a prestigious list of past winners.

"The return of the Charger brand is certain to spawn a new generation of aftermarket consumers reliving their childhood dreams through the modern version,” said Brad Grissom, vice president of Marketing and Product Development at Ingalls Engineering Co.

Those included in the Vehicle Design Awards selection process were SEMA member companies who regularly participate in technology sharing programs; the Dodge Charger received more than 30 percent of the votes.

"Our manufacturing members that participate in this program had early access to this vehicle and found the design and engineering lends itself to customer personalization,” said Carl Sheffer, Vice President of OEM Relations for SEMA. "Based on feedback from the OEMs, we are having a positive impact on the design and marketing of future vehicles.”

For several months, the Dodge Charger has been among the vehicles included in SEMA’s information sharing programs between original equipment manufacturers and SEMA members. Dodge’s participation in data sharing, measuring sessions and technology transfer initiatives with SEMA members resulted in the aftermarket being in sync with the launch of Dodge’s modern iteration of the muscle car.

SEMA reveals the winners of the Accessory Friendly Car, Truck and SUV categories at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the largest automotive aftermarket trade event where the industry unveils thousands of new products to visiting trade professionals.

SEMA, the Specialty Equipment Market Association founded in 1963, represents the $31 billion specialty automotive industry of 6,466 member-companies. It is the authoritative source for research, data, trends and market growth information for the specialty auto parts industry. The industry provides appearance, performance, comfort, convenience and technology products for passenger and recreational vehicles. For more information, contact SEMA at 1575 S. I talked some execs from Detroit at a DCX function (my pops works for DCX) and he was saying that everything is ready to go for the 2-door version AND a manual version. They just want to see how the 4-door does in the market. It was very cheap for DCX to make the Charger because of the 300C.
