Since there have been a few threads about asking what subs fit into the stock kicker sub box (not here though:jester: ), I thought I'd compile a list of some of the subs that others have successfully implanted into the box. Now from what I've read in order for the aftermarket subs to fit they need to be a shallow mount 3-5" in depth. Also You will want to replace the stock Amp with an aftermarket amp that will have enough "oopfhh" to power your new sub.

One question that I have is would it be possible to add a spacer or something to mount a sub that is a bit deeper?

1) Memphis 15-MC104D 5 inch mounting depth, and just barely fits
2) Kicker Comp VR Have to open the hole a little wider.
3) Audio SX 10" sub
4) MTX Blue Thunder
5) Pioneer TS-SW1041D
6) Kicker 10" CVR
7) JL 10W3V2-D4
8) JBL gt100 10"
9) Clarion 10" shallow mount sub. 3inch mounting depth and has 600watts max 300rms

If you have any others just post them up and I'll edit the list.

...On some advice from a respected and longtime SRT Forums member I'd like to gauge interest in "semi-custom" made subwoofer enclosures for our SRTs.

I have the shop space available to produce several types of trunk enclosures.

I have a handful of years of experience with fiberglass work as well as my own SRT.

I'm thinking about offering enclosures that will mount on either side of our SRT's trunk. I will also offer a spare tire enclosure if the interest is great enough. I prefer to create a flush mounting for the subwoofer trim ring, it makes the entire enclosure nice and clean looking when finished.

Here are some examples of what I'm thinking of, these images are from the shop I worked at:

I would angle the trim rings towards the cabin and would also offer sealed enclosures for 8", 10", 12" and 15" woofers. If our members would like, I can offer a ready-to-paint surface(i.e. primed), carpeted to match our trunk's carpet or vinyl wrapped for a bit more since it takes a good amount of time to vinyl wrap properly. I will leave the mounting of the woofer up to the end user. The enclosures would consist of a 5 layer fiberglass bottom and a fiberglass reinforced fleece top surface (we're talking probably two more layers of glass if needed). The top, visible substrate, will be filled and primed. I can also entertain custom requests HOWEVER potential clients need to understand that there would be a little bit of "artistic license" needed due to the distance between myself and potential clients. I was thinking of initiating a group buy when and if there is enough interest in this idea.

One important issue! I'll need to know what sub you're going to load the enclosure with and what kind of sound you want from the enclosure! Subwoofer's airspace requirements vary greatly from woofer to woofer. By telling me what woofer you're using, I'll be able to adjust the airspace of the enclosure if I need to.

I'm thinking that pricing would be around $200 for a ready-to-paint enclosure. Perhaps something like $165 for an 8", $175 for the 10", $200 for a 12" and $225 for the 15". Shipping would definately be another subject. I can UPS, FedEX or DHL these and they'd probably be at most 10-12 lbs. Plan for around $1-1.50 per lb on shipping costs.

So...with all this being said, what would be everyone's thoughts on this? Whether the response is positive or negative, I'm here to guide everyone to the best of my abilities, especially in the audio portion of our SRTs.

P.S. - Props to Got Wake for prodding me on this idea.

Wow, if they come out like he says, that shouldn't look too bad. I wouldn't make fun of anyone rocking one of these.
