View Full Version : Mopar CAI
The Mopar CAI is a good buy, no need to relocate anything but your vac harness. You need a good imagination when doing the install and removal of your f-bumper would make things a bit easier when it comes to installing the lower pipe then matching the upper to lower for best flow. Also, make sure to use atv gasket seal (in which ever color best suits your engine bay) around the hole for the lower pipe. Last thing you want is for a slit to develope over time from vibration friction. I also drilled 3 holes in the shape of a triangle in the front bumper right under the fog lights for ram air. Painted the holes with touch up paint, noone has ever noticed that I didnt tell first :thumb:
P.S. Don't try putting on the damn spash guard that comes w/ the kit unless you live where it rains that much to need one. I couldnt even figure out how the hell it goes on with the instructions they suppied. Nothing matched up that well and I like the vetilation so I chucked it in the trash.

Aren't the Mopar CAI just a AEM unit with mopar bagding? Did you get this from a supporting vendor, or from a dealership?

Yes, exactly the same thing except no CARB sticker on the Mopar unit.

So, the mopar CAI is completely useless for someone, say, in Cali going up for a Smog check? :ftard:

that is all i need to know now im definetly going with the aem...damn mopar trying to screw us and it cost more then the aem and still no carb #:ftard: :ftard: :ftard:
not sure on that one. aem has always been smaller dia. then most intakes. I would check on that cause i'm pretty sure it's 2.5'' not 3.0'' like mopar is.

AEM is 3 inch. I have the version just like the mopar. I think K&N is the only one that is smaller out there and it measures in at 2 3/4s.

We have a few people with them in my club. Trust me it's the same thing..
3inches and has the same bends as my AEM.
Is it a coincidense that Mopar also rebadges other DC items? Like the strut tower bars? Mopar & AEM/DC are in bed together on this one too.

Apparantly it's not a big enough coincidence.

I've also heard it's CARB EO approved now, but dryer ducting is still cheaper and probably works just as well.

im pretty sure i remember reading about the mopar strut bars being titanium and only weighing 2-point something punds compared to the 7-point sometin pond DC one on modernperformance.com think they have different design, at least the front ones do....i could be wrong tho. but that blue "m" logo doesnt come cheap.

Mopar has steel and titanium.
I have the titanium... they weigh almost nothing.
