Users gain and lose reputation based on how their posts are scored by other forum participants. Users with the ability to affect reputation, will either give or take aways points by approving or disapproving with a post's content. There is also an option to add comments. Basically, this rewards forum members for posting useful information.

this kind of cool.

what type of powers do you get when you get a higher rep?

the more and more i think about this i keep thinking its a bad idea. i mean how many people are actually going to take the time to rate a post someone makes. i also think it may cause a sort of power struggle somewhere down the road. people with higher reps will lose respect and bash people with less rep.

i think we should just use veteran and noob status like over on the other forums. that way noobs can know if a veteran helps them out it is almost certainly good advice.

just my 2 cents.

I have a couple of questions:

1. Can we, or are we allowed to see who has given us good or bad "Reputation" points?

2. Can this system be cheated? I.E. If I'm mad at someone, or a spammer comes on to the forum, can they say post 1000+ negative reviews?

As to the eariler comment about this system vise a veteran/newbie system, I think it all comes down to the advice being given. If it is good advice, ppl are more likely to take it, regardless who it is from. If the advice is bad, no one will listen anyhow, and the right procedures/infomation will be made available by someone who knows. That is how it has always worked. Besides, it isn't like someone is going to start telling everyone to pull thier spark plugs and fill thier block full of water or anything...I mean, who would do that? :)

Yes, the "Rep System" was turned off because of misuse. We are currently coming up with another plan on how to distinguish members that are knowlegeable and help out the SRT community.

in all honesty, at least we used the function to death instead of ignoring it

You shouldnt be able to rep people unless you have a certian amount of time here. Maybe a timespan which you can recieve it but not give it?

I dunno i like the rep system its just subject to abuse much like anything else that depends on user input.

Yes, but in order to get the free pizza you must dress up like a turtle (of the mutant ninja variety) and sing.
