shit thats right near where i live. i should give the guy a call and see if he'll let me spin it so i can give you guys a heads up on how it feels...

of course, pulling up to his house in a neon, i doubt he'd let me touch it.

I should hit the guy up and see if he kept the stock engine & tranny. I hear Mallett only gives them $1000 credit for it.

Yeah, nothing like a 177-hp N/A Ecotec with questionable internals and trans. I'd be shopping up the import yards for an Ecotec if I wanted one. :evil2:

hahn racecraft has already pumped out close to 400whp on a bone stock 2.4 engine :thumb:

now, as for how long it'll last, i dunno... they said it was the most durable factory N/A engine they've ever seen

I like some Hahn stuff, but that's slightly questionable at best. GM improved some stuff on the 2.4L compared to the 2.2L N/A but it still has some potential weaknesses. I've known people who have put down well over 300 reliable whp on a stock, base 16V 2.0L Ford Zetec in a Focus. And that engine has sintered iron powder metal rods that were never thought to be strong enough to do that (on a side note the SVT's use forged rods in addition to other upgrades spec'd by Cosworth Engineering). But that car is running a great tune with some protection electronics and could still go out at any time with the slightest wrong circumstances.

i'm just repeating what i read on a solstice forum... of course, it was by hahn, and was a sales pitch, so it should be taken with a grain of salt. they also didn't recommend running that much power, they just wanted to see if they could

No. Believe everything you read. Especially if you have a credit card and they're selling.
I'll have to see if I can dig it up but I thought the rods and pistons in the 2.4L were a little weaker design than even the 2.2L. It doesn't matter too much. If you want turbo power you can buy it from the factory, and that looks like a nice motor as-is.

I'd still like to see if there's a future Saab variant on the Kappa platform. Mmmm, 2.8L turbo V6 goodness. With only a flash from BSR that engine is putting out 280 hp and 355 ft-lbs in the 9-3 Aero. Recalibrate for bigger injectors and bolt on just a little bigger turbo and... :drooling:
