ok, i have 23 inch slicks, 306whp/408tq, now i want bigger slicks cause these spin too much off the line, now im gonna up it from a 50 to a 75 shot and stay there for a while, now how big should i go with the slicks, i did 12.4@112 on my only full pass on the spray, im sure i can get it faster with more seat time,
so wat size is perfect for me

from what i gather over talking to you in the past few weeks i think that on the spray you might be able to make good use out of a 25, maybe even a 26. the 26 might be pushing it a little too much tho. remind me again, what clutch are you using? if still the OEM clutch, then i think i would go with the smaller size. ive seen 26's destroy OEM clutches on many cars.
but then again, dont take my word for it, i still rock street tires. im only speaking on behalf of other forum members i have seen run at the track.

24.5 X 8.50 x 15.....you dont have the power to run 26's

thats kinda what i was gettin at, but he DID say he was gonna up the nitrous so maybe with the bigger shot he might be ready for it. i didnt say he was for sure, just said MAYBE. :)

Hes got the DCR Powershift Clutch, and its having problems holding all the power.
Just make sure you get what you can fit in the wheel wells. 1st gens have less room than a 2nd gen (or SRT) would have. You might have problems with rubbing during turning (not a big deal when you are only going down a straight track). I personally would get the smallest and lightest drag wheels you can get, and then go from there.

i know daniel (98srt2dr) persoanlly, even with a 100 shot he will still be under 450whp....he will be around 400 even...torque is gonna be an issue but the dcr clutch should hold...im sticking to my guns and say that 24.5 slicks are gonna be the ticket....

well yea, he had said his clutch was already giving him problems before, so i dont see how going with ANY larger slick is ging to help...its just going to make it worse. i was HOPING he had already swapped out for a different clutch, but apparently not. in that case then, i would just stick with the current size slick since they are ALREADY overpowering the clutch....just my 2 cents. FYI i am still on the original clutch with 65,000+ miles on my car and HUNDREDS of launches, about 100 passes down the track with timeslips and my clutch still holds perfectly. i would honeslty consider possibly getting away from slicks and using drag radials so that clutch lasts longer, cus if you burn it up right away, you wont have a chance to even learn the difference. i know DR's is taking a step in reverse from slicks, but i have still seen guys pull 1.7 and 1.8 60' times with DR's, so with a good driver, you can still get out of the 12's.

ok, i have pt steelies, im getting dot slicks because the local track hassles people over full slicks, hp isnt my issue, its all torque, thats why i need the bigger tires,
i have the dcr clutch, and was told by aaron and darrel that the clutch will hold 500+ once its seated, they both told me on theyre stock turbo car they took 700 miles and 20 passes to seat the clutch all the way
so with the 75 shot im looking for 450tq, so am i hearing
24.5?
25?
26?
wat do u guys think

oh, so the clutch isnt even seated yet? cool, then once its seated all should be well...450 tq is quite a bit, ive seen guy swith less tq still use 26's, but they were on the stock clutch so it presented and issue. since you are using a stronger clutch, i think the 26 would work well for keeping you stuck to the track. the only other option i can think of is like i said before, go back to DR's and just drive the hell out of it...

i think 26/8.50's are too much for his car... will bog his car down....
now that i think about it, go with a 235/60/15 mickey thompson drag radial...they hook like a mother fucker..
id get them instead of slicks for my car but they wont clear my spring perches..they are about 26 inches tall

a 24.5 is the best tire for you. i have the same power (no nitrous) and they're great. i ran the 26's last season and they were just WAY too big, the car couldn't push them at the end of the track. get the 24.5x8.5's and you'll be good to go!
