I'm driving, I shift into second, and I hear a huge BOOM from the front right wheel, but then everything is fine...

And what exactly does a bad clutch react like? I've been having hard gears so I figure I need to change my fluid, but otherwise what are symptoms?

Did you hit something? How hard where you driving?

And if you are having a hard time shifting, I would check clutch adjustment first.

nope i was driving normally on an empty road...

clutch adjustment? as in that simple little clutch mod that allows the clutch to go only so far back

The one on the cable behind the pedal that adjusts when the clutch engages

When you punch it in a higher gear from a roll (3rd or above), the RPMS go up but you don't accelerate.

how much TW is your car making? you may possibly have broken one of the tripods on an axle. they break pretty easy sometimes. ive broken two.

Or maybe he broke the bolt for his lower motor mount, that'd also be a loud noise from the area of the wheel well.

Good call.

Pull off the plastic engine cover behind the wheel. Also might want to check the top mount too.

To do that remove these screws

and this screw which is under the lip of the fascia on the passenger side. I think they're 10mm, I don't remember though.

This is your lower motor mount, it should be pretty obvious if the bolt broke since you'd be able to move it.

Is that a filled mount I see?

And thanks for the pics. I've been wondering how to get to that guy! :thumb:

Yup. I filled the upper, lower and transmission mounts with Devcon a little over a year ago. Worked out great, they're stiff as stones. I pulled them all off about two weeks ago and none of them showed any signs of cracking.

I think I spent about $40 dollars on that project, good saving compared to ~190 for solid mounts.
