Saw it posted up over on focaljet.

Fifth Gear C30 Test Drive

More info:

We have a new hatch, it's got a nice turbocharged powertrain, great Euro Focus C1 platform (safety, handling, etc.), and it doesn't look like every other car on the road. Not too bad but styling, as always, is subjective. Since the US doesn't get the "real" Focus ST we can either have the Mazdaspeed 3 or the C30/S40/V50/(C70) for a nice handling turbocharged compact. Our Focus is getting redesigned and they're adding a coupe next year so maybe we can hope the turbo five-pot or four will make it's way into a SVT replacement.

What the hell kind of website is that... too many weird animations for a car company.

The back end is pretty ugly.. and the front is all volvo.

You see the link about the AWD turbo 2door focus being tested here in the states? It's the new platform as well :sneaky:

Are you talking about the black Euro model ST-looking hatch they think is AWD? That would make a great new RS model but we won't see it in that form stateside. The US market is getting a heavily freshened version of the older C170 platform for '08 that will include a conventional notchback coupe. It's still competitive and while the Euro C1 platform does have a lot of little improvements it isn't that much different. Ford is still saying they will unite all the Focus-based models world-wide around 2010 on a new platform. The C1 platform (Euro Focus, Mazda 3, Volvo C30/S40) has already been around for a few years now and it would be even less cost effective to bring it over now for our Focus when the platform itself is nearing end of its life.

At best we can hope that there will be a real performance Focus again in the US and maybe even turbocharged next year. Worse case is the basic Focus still gets a lot of improvements (those who have seen the upcoming US Focus supposedly say that it appear to be a lot more than just a simple refresh) and should hold its own for the couple years it will be around.

I'll tell you what if nothing else that's the coolest build your own car set-up that I've seen...
