Easier How-To: Fan Switch Mod:

This is way easier than using the current fan switch mod displayed in the how-to section on SRTforums...me and a friend figured this out for my car, it works the same on all most other cars also.

Supplies needed:
1.) Wire strippers + crimpers
2.) Wire roll from local autoparts store (12ft roll, 14gauge)
3.) Connectors for the switch you are using (switches/connectors available at any local autoparts store)
4.) Wire loom & zipties and some heatshrink tubing if you feel the need to ziptie them up & protect them....I just did this modification last night and it was dark so kind of a rush job...I'll probably be adding some tubing to them & ziptie them up later....

1.) First locate the black box right next to your battery to the right side of it, and take the cover off of it:

2.) Next look at the 3 big relay's to your left if on the drivers side, the very bottom one is your source for your fan control (unplug it):

3.) Then you'll run your power wire from your positive side of the battery to your switch through the firewall or along side the drivers side door like I did.

4.) Then you'll run another power wire from the fan relay to your switch, and you will have total control over your fan, don't forget to ground out your switch if it has a ground on it.

Looks a lil ghetto, but I didn't mess with mounting it yet, I'll get around to that later.

Here is the switch wire's:

1.) White wire = Ground
2.) Left wire = to fan relay.
3.) Middle wire = to positive terminal on battery.

Could I get this added to the how-to section if no one else has posted this easier method, rather than splicing all sorts of wires, etc for a fan switch like the other one tells you how to do? Thanks!

you should add to the parts need list:
wire loom and zip ties and maybe some heat shrink tubing to make sure everything is properly insulated so as to not have a electrical fire....but other then that a great how to and i will try this method.....and a rep point to you..

I'll probably end up wrapping them up also and ziptying to make it look more neat under the hood, and borrow my friends dremel to mount the switch kinda where it is now, but further down where the bottom side of the fusepanel is.

It would be helpful to show what pins on the relay you tap into with the wires, and also, which wires are which when the are attached to the switch... just to avoid confusion :thumb:

k, i'll be back in a lil....going to go make it look a lil neater with some ziptie's and i'll snap some pictures of what wire is what on the switch.

And on the relay it doesn't matter which pin you connect it to...

just do what I did and put the wire down into where the prongs of the relay go in and then push the relay down over it, is what I did. :thumb:

yeah there is like 5 pins on that relay, I connected the redwire on the far left one, but any pin will work, I've tried several. :thumb:

I added some new pictures of it all fixed up nice and neat (well atleast more neat than it was, lol) just got finished.
