Seems like everyone is buying a new (yet older) car around here..

Here is mine:

Got it on Friday.. and its already stripped. Ready to pull the body off of the chassis to restore it into this:

I have a ton more pics and a progress blog of all the work being done here:

nice... bugs can be fun little cars... there's a local company that makes chassis kits to convert them to front engine/RWD to allow people to run V8's... i thought about doing something like that, but with a turbo flat6 in a ghia :thumb:

Ah.. you see... when I see a green Beetle I don't think of Herbie. But then again I am sick of everyone saying that..

Put an SRT-4 engine in it.

That would be too much power. I'm fine with ~50 HP.

Ghia Spindles and rust shields.

Finding the right sized bolts for those sucks. I'm gonna go with an american bolt either tapped or with a nut on the end.

Newly installed ball joints! We used the Autozone C-Clamp to install.. no problem!

Thar be the disk brakes. Just sitting on there.. still need to do the bearings.

Its starting to look like a car chassis.

<----------has never owned a air cooled VW with a ball joint. :ooroll:

<----------also has never owned a air cooled VW with disc brakes

VW drags this weekend at Fontucky, I think I'm going to that instead of BOTI the following weekend. VW drag racing is ALWAYS entertaining. 1500# with 300WHP FTOOCW(for the out of control win)
